In the issue of the newsletter that just hit your inbox, I was trying to describe the altered state of consciousness I found myself in after my injury. I used the words “coma-like” to illustrate the slow down, suspension, freeze, altered experience of reality, confusion, and disorientation I experienced. I feel like this bears immediate correction, however, out of the intense respect due to the traumatic, medically perilous, and I’d venture to say sacred experience of people in a coma. Our experiences are not the same. I should have dug into more precise language to describe exactly what I was talking about instead of using this comparison. I’m so sorry for causing harm by this mistake. I edited it on the web version of the newsletter, which doesn’t correct the version in your inbox, and I would rather correct immediately than cause hurt. Thanks so much, friends.
